Starbucks Launches iPhone App for Mobile eGifts

Starbucks introduced the Starbucks for iPhone app last week, making its e-gift card accessible on mobile devices.
The new app also combines features from Starbucks’ current apps for iPhone and iPod touch devices—myStarbucks and Starbucks Card Mobile—allowing customers to access their cards, use the mobile payment capability, and track My Starbucks Rewards and custom features in a single app. In addition, the new app allows users to reload existing personal cards using PayPal.
Previously only available at Starbucks.com, Starbucks Card eGift allows customers to send e-gift cards directly from their iPhone or iPod touch devices. Starbucks Card eGifts can be customized with personal messages and for any amount between $5 and $100. Customers can send the gifts using their contact lists or Facebook friends lists. The Starbucks Card eGift works like a regular Starbucks Card and can be redeemed at participating company-owned and licensed Starbucks store locations in the United States, or online at www.starbucksstore.com.

The company also introduced its Starbucks for Android app on June 15 and continues its Starbucks for BlackBerry app. Apps for those devices offer some of the features listed above, but do not yet have the capability to send Starbucks Card eGifts nor allow the use of PayPal.
