Waterproof to 33 feet, shockproof from a height of 6.5 feet, dust-proof, and capable of operating in temperatures as low as 14 degrees, Fujifilm’s 14-megapixel XP170 digital point-and-shoot camera is designed to take the kind of abuse an iPhone or Android can’t.
“The XP170 can become your go-to camera that you aren’t afraid to get wet, be dropped, or even frozen or covered in dirt and mud,” said David Troy, Fujifilm North America’s director of marketing, digital cameras, electronic imaging division, in a statement. “It will still deliver fantastic photos and HD movies every time.”
The FinePix XP170’s wireless image transfer function allows it to connect to any iPhone, iPad, or Android-based smartphone or tablet computer with the push of a button. The camera can also take full 1080p HD movies — above or below water — with sound.
Its features include a 2.7-inch anti-reflective, high-contrast LCD screen designed for bright sunlight and underwater viewing; a 5x, wide angle optical zoom; and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery said to be able to take up to 300 images between charges. Other features include a mechanical image stabilization system; a tracking autofocus system designed to keep fast-moving subjects from blurring or moving out of the frame as the picture is taken; a continuous shoot mode that allows speeds of up to 10 frames-per-second; 360-degree motion panorama mode; scene recognition; and automatic red-eye removal.
The Fujifilm XP170 is available in blue or orange, and has a MSRP of $279.95. For more information, visit www.fujifilmincentives.com
