Maglite Offers XL50 Flashlight

January 31, 2012

An inch wide and less than five inches long, the Maglite XL50 LED shares the rugged and water-resistant, machined, anodized aluminum case with the standard Mini Maglites, albeit in a different form factor.
Features include a recessed, pushbutton tailcap switch at the rear of the Maglite XL50 that has three settings. A single click will turn on the high power setting, 104 lumens, which is very, very bright for a small flashlight. Two rapid clicks will turn on low beam, about a quarter as bright, but with four times the battery life, which Mag puts at 36 hours. Three clicks will get a signaling strobe light. The beam is adjustable from a thin spotlight to a wide floodlight.
Laser engraving and other customization options are available, including a presentation box with three premium alkaline batteries. The Maglite XL50 is available in black, red, sliver, blue, and gray. Accessories include belt holsters with a click-adjustable rotating clip, so it can be aimed while still on your belt. It retails for $29.99.
Two other models, the XL100 and XL 200, are the same size but offer brighter beams and more settings, including a lockout to prevent accidental operation that can drain power.
